Well, here is a sure sign of autumn—I picked all the green tomatoes and pulled everything out of the ground in our 10×10-foot garden plot. Next year I’m hoping to have two plots and will make the best use possible out of the space so we have plenty of wonderful produce to eat and freeze. This year we had tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers (that did not do well at all) and basil. It was so much fun working in the garden, we can’t wait to do it again next year. Sure do wish we had our own land so I could do as I wish with the garden (like plant some autumn veggies) but we are incredibly blessed to have a spot at all. God is good!
Now then, do you have any great ideas for the full bucket of green tomatoes? I plan on making a batch or two of fried green tomatoes but we don’t need too much fried food. We also don’t have a canner (yet) so I can’t make anything that requires that. What do you do with green tomatoes?

Funny you should mention green tomatoes… We had a potluck at church for Pastor Appreciation, and I tasted two different kinds of green tomato relish. One was slightly sweet and one was slightly spicy. The sweet one was very good with chicken, and the spicy one would go with anything like mexican, or mild meat like fish. Both were very good. Try googling a recipe and see what you come up with. If you can’t can, you could always freeze it in small quantities.
I noticed your ticker on your blog about conceiving. When I saw that I added you to my prayer list. I will definately pray for a new little blessing!
Also, THANK YOU for teaching me to post links! I am happy to say I can do it! Whoo Hoo! I can’t wait to post a link!
Blessings to you!
Thank you, Mary, for everything! I will definitely look up recipes for green tomato relishes. Yum!
